Construction Manager
As a Construction Manager at T&M Design, Werner helps keep projects moving by coordinating contractors, owner operations, and safety throughout the construction process. From signing contractors in at the beginning of the day to walking job sites and making sure work is progressing as expected, his role requires communication, coordination, and problem-solving.
Werner has been with T&M Design for two years, but his career has taken him through a wide range of industries and project types.
He studied mechanical engineering before beginning his career with a mechanical contractor. From there, he worked with several contractors and consulting firms, eventually earning his Professional Engineer license before joining T&M.
Throughout his career, Werner has worked on projects in industries ranging from high-tech and food manufacturing to airports and commercial facilities. Rather than having one favorite, he appreciates the different challenges each industry brings.
“I like the variety of projects and the various problem-solving opportunities.”
That variety has given Werner the opportunity to work through projects with very different demands, including construction taking place around active operations. At T&M, one project he particularly enjoyed involved installing structural support for conveyors without requiring any unplanned shutdowns.
For Werner, some of the most valuable skills in engineering and construction management go beyond technical knowledge. He points to people skills and problem-solving as especially important, whether that means working with different groups to find solutions on the fly or taking the time to develop a more detailed answer.
That is also the advice he would give someone interested in pursuing a career in engineering or construction management:
Looking ahead, Werner is interested in the opportunity to work on water treatment projects and continue taking on new challenges.
At T&M, he especially enjoys working with people and the opportunity to support a wide variety of projects.
